Ballad of the Brave Trailblazer | Chapter 10
Chapter 9 << | index |
(Growl)
Owen: ....Ugh. This thing’s still alive.
Mithra: It’s really tough, you see. It wouldn’t die no matter how many times we beat it last time too. What a pain.....
Figaro: Let’s quickly seal it away. If we leave it like this it’ll regain its strength.
Lennox: But we need the magic tool to seal it away.....
Bradley: We’ve got the skull right here.
Rutile: Sorry for making you wait.
Akira: Rutile, Bradley!
Mithra: Oh, thank goodness you’re alive.... This is really terrible for my heart....
It really took you far too long. What were you doing, Bradley?
Bradley: Bastard, you think you can just say anything, huh?
Rutile: Mister Mithra, catch!
Still riding his broom, Rutile throws the skull at Mithra, who catches it with a single hand like a baseball.
Snow: Time to seal it!
The ancient creature is doubled over on the altar, its dark body shaking. Mithra approaches nonchalantly and places the golden skull on top of it.
The skull’s teeth clatter, as if the beast is making its final struggle. The wizards surround the altar holding their magic tools in front of them.
Seven spells are uttered in unison.
The golden skull unleashes a blinding light. The next moment, the dark clusters shrivel away, sucked into the altar.
Gradually, the skull falls silent, and the shadows disappear. The curtains of silence fall upon the scene.

White: Oh, looks like you finished the job. Well done.
Mitile: I’m so glad everyone is safe....! Did you manage to seal away the ancient creature?
Figaro: Yup. There’s nothing to worry about anymore. Stacy got injured, but we managed to treat her with your potion, Mitile.
Mitile: Stacy, you were injured!?
Stacy: Yes, but I’m fine thanks to your potion. Mister Mitile, it’s amazing how you know how to make potions.
Mitile: Thank goodness... Ehehe. I’m glad I was able to help, even if it wasn’t much!
White: Ohoho. Mitile, you also bravely fought against evil spirits. You’ve done a lot to help us.
Akira: Really! It was a bit nerve-wracking back there, but I’m glad we managed to seal it away before it caused too much trouble.
Snow: My goodness. You were all making such a ruckus down there that I feared the whole palace was going to collapse.
Owen: Shut it. It didn’t collapse, so it’s fine.
Mithra: Well, if we’d kept on fighting, it definitely would’ve fallen apart at some point.
Akira: (I’m truly glad we made it out safely.....)
✦✧☾✧✦
Brook: Thanks for everything. I guess I was right to rely on you all.
Snow: We cast a powerful barrier around Poincaré.
White: The ancient creature will never be revived again. Your new land is safe to live upon.
Lennox: But I wonder... Who in the world was that old lady who left you that warning?
Snow: She might have been a spirit of these lands who feared that the developers would undo the seal of the ancient beast; that’s why she came to warn you in the guise of an old lady.
Brook: You guys should drop by our village when it’s complete. We’ll build stone statues of you all.
Bradley: What?
Mithra: ...Stone statues?
Brook: We're gonna place them at the entrance of the village, and title them "The Wizard Comrades Who Saved Our Village." Doesn’t it sound like a good idea?
Mithra: Place me in the middle. Because apparently the guy in the middle is the strongest one.
Figaro: Oh, we’re allowed to make requests? Then make me look like a gentle, good guy.
Mitile: Stacy. Good luck practicing magic!
Stacy: Yes! Thank you for all your help. I’ll keep training hard so I can become a fine witch one day.
Rutile: I’m sure you will, Stacy. You’re already such a lovely witch.
Lennox: That’s right. You can learn all sorts of magic bit by bit, just as you learned how to fly.
Stacy: ....Um, Mister Lennox.
Can I become like you one day?
Lennox: ...You don’t have to become like me. You will become a witch that only you can be.
Stacy: ...Yes! I’ll never forget this day for the rest of my life.
Brook: Let’s go home to our comrades, Stacy. It’s gonna get real busy soon. We need to start building our village.
We need to make sure it’s a great village, one that anyone would want to live in. It’s going to be bountiful and warm — a sturdy village that will last for two thousand years.
Stacy: Two thousand years?
Brook: That’s right. So that when you become a great witch who’s lived for two thousand years, and you’re flying all over the world... It’ll still be a place where you can return home. That’s the kind of village we’re going to build.
And that’s why I need your help. I’m counting on you, all right?
Stacy: Yes...! I’ll do my very best!
Brook's monologue: The wizards say goodbye and leap right into a mysterious door. Apparently it leads to the magic headquarters.
Bradley: Shouldn’t we have just used Mithra’s doors of space from the beginning?
Mithra: Now that you mention it.... You should’ve suggested that earlier.
Akira: Well then, I’m wishing you all the best. Feel free to rely on the magic headquarters if you ever need our help.
Brook's monologue: The opening in space swallows the Sage and his wizards as the door closes in front of my eyes.
✦✧☾✧✦
(Woosh)
Brook's monologue: Stacy lets me ride behind her on her broom as we float up into the air. We make our way through the sunset as we head towards the settlement where our comrades await.
Brook: (I bet they’ll be real surprised when they see her. The little witch who hardly knew how to fly is going to return steadily carrying me on her broom.)
(...I’ll tell them all sorts of stories when we get back.)
Brook's monologue: The monster in the underground palace, Stacy’s bravery.... And the stunningly powerful and reliable Sage’s wizards.
None of them really know what wizards are like, so they’re gonna laugh at me and say I’m being ridiculous. But that’s when I’ll tell them.
That wizards are way cooler than we imagine them to be.
