Frequently Asked Questions

Please engage with the app when reading our translations for the full experience. The app is available for download here: Apple | Android

General note: We often may not be able to check our DMs frequently, so if you have a pressing question about gameplay you might have better luck looking to other resources!

Q: Why is your Twitter account locked?
A: We often lock between updates, but don't worry, we'll always be back whenever we post anything new here — so no need to request to follow when we're locked.
Update (12/9/24): Going forward, we will be exclusively posting translation updates on Bluesky!

Q: May I translate one of your translations into another language?
A: Feel free to use our translation as a guide, but we think it’s always best to work with the original source — that is, the Japanese. There are so many nuances that are already lost going from Japanese to English, and a retranslation without referencing the original text will inevitably exacerbate those issues. We don’t ask to be credited, but please message us to let us know you’ll be using our translations!

Q: Are you planning on translating [event/story]?
A: We do not answer questions about what we are working on or planning on posting, simply because we never have concrete plans; we just post whatever we happen to finish. We also don’t want hypothetical plans to affect which stories other people pick up and translate, since having multiple translations is a good thing! On that note, we really encourage people to translate stories that we’ve already translated — no need to inform us or check with us about this.

We do not plan to translate card stories, as people often have to pay or spend significantly more time/effort playing events to unlock these compared to other stories.

Q: Can I use your translations for [insert artwork/fic/project here]?
A: Yes, no problem! If you use them for a Twitter bot, we appreciate credit but it's not necessary.

Q: Where did your translations for [insert series here] go?
A: We decided as a team to remove some older translations from this journal. If you still want to access them, we suggest checking the respective fandom wikis and/or using the wayback machine to access pages where they were previously hosted.

Q: I have a question about [translation choice].
A: DM us on Bluesky or Twitter, or message us through this journal! We’d love to talk to you about it.

Q: I’ve spotted a grammatical/spelling/formatting error!
A: Please let us know — we’re always super super super grateful to anyone who catches anything we’ve overlooked!

Q: Who are you?
A:

(We’re just a group of bookwormish friends: 1 travel-size sheep (translator), 1 talking salamander (contributing translator), and 1 soul shard in a jar (editor). All translations are fan-made and unofficial.)

hello and sorry for bothering! Im unsure if this is the right place to ask but would you be alright with using your translations to subtitling event stories and posting them on youtube with credit?
